Alcohol use is not suggested while high-altitude trekking. Alcohol causes our bodies to get dehydrated, and at high altitudes, dehydration is a major contributor to altitude sickness. We advise against drinking alcohol, especially as you are still ascending. We can have it once we start to drop and once we have gotten ourselves to a safe altitude.
Your climbing and cardiovascular capacities are hampered by smoking. A healthy trekker does not smoke because it is not advised. If you choose to continue smoking, it is your decision, but you should consider how it will affect the other group members' comfort.
